I was born in 1968 and I have always drawn everything. At home, the paintings of Giovanni Ardy (great symbolist painter and grand-uncle of my father) enchanted me. Actually, some of them, the darkest and most visionary, frightened and attracted me at the same time.
I attended artistic high school until 17 years old, where I was lucky to have teachers like Paola Ginepri, Vittorio Di Turi e Luigi Sirotti, who made me love art, drawing and color.
Afterward I went to college at University of Genoa, where, among my preferred lessons I remember Contemporary Art with Professor Sborgi. I studied Ardy and symbolists with him, together with advertisement graphics of early '900. I took a great interest in this type of illustration which I feel close to my sensitivity. I started looking for old posters in antiquity markets and studying Liberty and Symbolism.
In those years of theoretical studies, I discovered photography and I shot hundreds of pictures, while learning from the greatest present and past photographers. I think my art has been greately influenced by this passion for photography, mostly as far as subject composition and framing are concerned. During my college years, my dear friend Rossi was attending Art Academy and I was impressed by her paintings, notes and anecdotes.
After graduation, I kept restoring old paintings, attending at the same time painting lessons of Professor Mario Chianese at the Fine Arts Academy of Genoa. My aunt Cristina, director of the restoration workshop, attended the same lessons, and her creativity and painting methods were important to my formation. A similar creativity impulse came from my friend Barbara Zarletti, a portraiture who I love very much. Our long discussions on art were enjoyable and paramount.
Most of all, lessons of Chianese were a real revelation and made me understood that painting was what I wanted to do in my life.
The creation of this web-site was the last step, a quick way to share my art. A special thank to Stefano and Roby to help me out with the programming.
This is my story.
I hope you like my art work. I am very committed and enjoy myself, by the way. I am trying to upgrade periodically the web-site in parallel with my work.
